Kristy Woodford Named Alliance High School's New Principal

Kristy Woodford Named Alliance High Schools New Principal

Kristy Woodford has been named the new principal at Alliance High School. Stepping into the position, she will be the first female principal in AHS history.

“I am excited and proud to take on this position,” Woodford said. “I feel extremely honored that the school board and superintendent are placing their trust in me to lead the high school. Personally, I think it is a great opportunity to get to lead a building in the district where my grandfather and mother both taught.”

Woodford came to Alliance City Schools in July of 2014 from Canton City Schools. She was hired as an assistant principal at AHS. She worked in that role for two years under the guidance of current principal, Shawn Jackson, before she was selected to be the associate principal at AHS. Woodford will be stepping into the role of principal at the start of the third nine-weeks when Jackson transitions to his new role of director of secondary education on Jan. 19, 2021.

“Those who know and work with Kristy already know that there is absolutely no question that she is the right person to lead the biggest building in our district.,” Superintendent Rob Gress said. “She is a leader whom students, parents and teachers all respect and trust. Kristy has dedicated herself to the principle that all students can learn at high levels, she views teachers as leaders, works tirelessly for our students, and treats everyone with dignity and respect. She is not only a competent administrator, but she is the right fit for our community.”

Woodford is looking forward to continuing her work with the staff at AHS and making a positive impact on the students' lives.

“Being able to have one-on-one conversations with kids is really important to me,” she said. “I look forward to continuing to build relationships with staff, students, and the community that will help us all grow.”

With Woodford and Jackson taking on new roles, there is a position open for an assistant principal at AHS. The district will work diligently to find a qualified individual to fill the open position. In the meantime, Greg Gemberling will take on the role of dean of students at AHS to help fulfill the day-to-day responsibilities.
