Calamity Day Adjustments To Schedule
Due to legislation requiring districts to make up school days, beginning Wednesday, March 26, ACS will add a half hour to every Wednesday until the end of this school year.

Navigators will start 1/2 hour later on those days but will end at its normal time.

Additionally, the last day of school is now May 29, instead of May 28. Afternoon bus schedules will also be adjusted by 30 minutes. If you have questions, please contact your individual school building or the administration office.
Alliance Aviator Basketball Senior J.J. Kukura Named First-Team All-Ohio
ALLIANCE, OH—(March 27, 2014)—Alliance High School senior J.J. Kukura was recently named first-team All-Ohio in Division II, only the fourth player to receive the honor in Alliance basketball history. Led by Kukura, the Aviators finished the season with an overall record of 22-3, won the Northeast Buckeye Conference championship and won the Division II Sectional championship.

“I can’t even begin to describe just how proud I am of all he’s accomplished, not only this season but in his career,” said J.J.’s father and varsity basketball coach, Larry Kukura. “I’ve seen him grow so much, physically and as a man. He works so hard and trains so long that he deserves every award he’s been given.”

J.J. earned many awards for his efforts during his senior season. He was named NBC Player of the Year, District Four Player of the Year, Northeast Inland Player of the Year and he played in the Stark-Summit All Star Game at Malone University on March 27.

J.J. was one of ten players selected in the state chosen for the First-Team All-Ohio in Division II. He became the all-time leading scorer in Alliance history this season and is the third all-time leading scorer in Stark County.

“Just being around him every day has been an amazing experience for both of us,” said Larry Kukura. “I know it can’t be easy playing for your dad because it’s not easy coaching your son. But we’ve been able to spend a lot of time together and form an even stronger bond.”

After he graduates in May, J.J. plans to play college basketball at Tiffin, Walsh or Mount Union.

“J.J.’s talent was very exciting to watch, and I’m so proud of everything he and his teammates accomplished this season,” said Superintendent Jeffrey Talbert said. “Not only is he an amazing athlete, J.J. is a great kid and student. I know we will see him do big things in the future, whether they are on or off the basketball court.”
