💃🕺 The first-ever Dancing with the Jetsetters was amazing! 🕺💃
Two teams, The Underdogs and The Queens, made up of Jetsetters and AHS staff members, took the stage at last week’s send-off concert to show off their moves! Each team was randomly assigned a song and worked together to choreograph a routine to perform for the crowd. 🎶
🏆 The Queens took home the very first Mirror Ball trophy! The winning team included Jetsetter seniors Makenna Root, Gabby Heslop and Elle Nussbaum, underclassmen Grace McGeehen and Kara Eversdyke along with AHS teachers Liz Davis, Bri Boehlke, and Kaylen McFarland. What a performance! 👏🎉
We’re already looking forward to next year’s Dancing with the Jetsetters! 🩵 #RepthatA

✈ Portia (Hairston) Johnson ✈
Position: Teacher
School: Alliance High School
Graduation Year: 1997
Years at ACS: 11
Favorite Memory:
"My lasting memories include making new friends after moving here from NY, dissecting animals in Science class, volunteering for Key Club/National Honor Society, founding Cultural Mystiques club, Track & Field meets, screaming, "Ninety-ninety, Ninety-ninety, Ninety-SEVEN!" at pep rallies, prom, & graduation."
Influential Staff Member:
"There are so many to name. Coach King for his all-around leadership, Joe Zelasko for his engaging storytelling of history, Mrs. Wuske for 'A-space-S-space-ASD-space,' Libby Patterson for teaching me to critically think, Mr. Morris for teaching me resiliency, Anne Rackley for everything about her, Cynthia Kriener for her onboarding and allowing me to be her aide, Sally Ailes for extending her curriculum to Spanish 5 & 6 and fueling my teaching dream. And of course, James Ballor, for a highly engaging Humanities class every day and our DC trip."
Choosing to work for ACS:
"I developed my teaching interest in the classrooms at Alliance High School and the sanctuary of Noble Street COGIC. This community alone financed my first education degree. I want to always honor the people and organizations that gave me a belief in continuous learning and growth."
Importance of giving back:
"Although I was not raised here, my time here showed me the intricate connections between family, church, school, work, and social life. Serving Alliance proves to my own children and students that they can play an important role in developing a stronger community in the future."
From student to educator, Mrs. Johnson's embodies the belief that strong communities are built when people invest in one another. 🩵❤️ #RepthatA
