Hello again Aviators, With weather and overall conditions continuing to pose safety concerns, Alliance City Schools will be closed again tomorrow, Jan. 29. The cold temperatures, along with sidewalks and bus stops that remain buried under snow, are the main factors in our decision to close for one more day. We are hopeful to return to school on Friday, but forecasts seem to be changing by the minute now, so it’s hard to predict at the moment. If we are able to return on Friday, we know that some conditions will still be challenging. If you are able, we encourage families to begin planning and preparing by ensuring your child has a safe path to bus stops and is dressed in weather-appropriate clothing to stay warm during their morning commute. We will let you know by tomorrow at 3 pm whether or not we will be in school on Friday. As always, if you have weather-related concerns about your child attending school, you may call them off by calling the main office of their school. Athletic updates Tonight’s (Jan. 28) middle school boys and girls basketball games have been cancelled Tonight's (Jan. 28) varsity girls basketball game at Marlington has been cancelled, the game will be made up on Monday, Feb. 9 Tomorrow's (Jan. 29) middle school and Varsity girls and boys wrestling dual with Minerva has been cancelled and will be rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 12 Tomorrow's (Jan. 29) swim meet at Massillon is canceled with rescheduled date TBD Practices are only permitted for winter varsity sports and various pre-arranged music/arts/drama programs. Coaches/advisors will communicate with students and families. Again, thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate these decisions. We have a lot of winter left, so keep your hats and gloves nearby! Rob Gress Superintendent of Schools

On official school letterhead: Hello Aviators, What crazy weather we have been experiencing. Here in Alliance, it’s estimated that we received more than 14 inches of snow. Our city crews have done a great job working through everything for our city. However, sidewalks and bus stops are a major concern - many sidewalks and bus stops remain buried under a foot or more of snow. Almost every one of our bus stops have no place for our students to stand and only some residents have been able to get their sidewalks cleared. Additionally, with all the cars snowed in and the large piles of snow on the corners, it will be difficult, if not impossible, for our buses to make the tight turns they have to make to get to our students. The forecasted temperatures also present a concern to us. Generally, we close school when the wind chill reaches -15 degrees or lower in the morning. With these factors in mind, we will close again tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 27. We will make decisions for Thursday and Friday on a day-by-day basis. I can assure you that we do not make these decisions lightly and we always have what’s best for our Aviators in mind. We will do our best to make decisions in a timely manner to allow families adequate time to prepare if additional cancellations are necessary. Decisions regarding athletics and extracurricular activities will also be made and communicated on a day-by-day basis. Thanks for your patience and understanding and as always, stay safe, Aviators! Rob Gress Superintendent of Schools
You heard it from Mr. Gress... It's going to be cold! 🥶

Due to the forecasted cold temperatures for tomorrow, along with snow and icy conditions still present on sidewalks and around bus stops, Alliance City Schools will be closed Tuesday, January 27.

Decisions regarding athletics and extracurricular activities will be made by 10 am tomorrow.

Please stay safe and warm, Aviators. #RepthatA

As much as Mr. Gress tried to control the weather, he couldn't stop the snow from coming down! ❄

Alliance City Schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 26 due to the inclement weather.

All athletics and extracurricular actives have been cancelled for Monday, and all campuses will be closed.

Stay safe and warm, Aviators! ☕ #RepthatA
