ALLIANCE, OHIO – (April 25, 2023) – Alliance City Schools will be hosting a nearly two-week long Fine Arts Showcase featuring visual and performing arts hosted at Alliance High School. The showcase will begin with a district-wide visual art show and reception on Monday, May 8 followed by performing arts events ending on Wednesday, May 17.
This is the first event of its kind to be hosted by Alliance City Schools. It was made possible by the hard work of the visual arts department and the music department to show off the many talents of the students.
“The young artists and musicians of Alliance City Schools are ready and excited to show off all of their growth and hard work from this school year,” said Bianca Burwell, head of the ACS art department. “I truly believe we have some of the most creative, passionate and artistically talented students in the area, and we are thrilled to host an event of this magnitude on our own campus for the first time ever.”
Alliance City School creates a culture of supporting and promoting Academic, Athletics and the Arts. This two-week long showcase offers families and community members the chance to see all the hard work, dedication and artistic talent of the ACS students.
“I am really excited for our community to see how talented our students are in the visual and performing arts,” said Shawn Jackson, Director of Secondary Education. “The fine arts have always been important to Alliance City Schools and the Arts Showcase will be a celebration of our teachers and students.”
In the past, Alliance City Schools had many of the same events scheduled, but they were hosted individually. The creation of the showcase is a great way to unite all the activities to make it a true district-wide arts celebration. Community members and families are encouraged to take part in as many events as possible to see the full-scope of the students’ talents.
“This showcase has been years in the making, and is the perfect opportunity for our families and community to see our students in action, shining where they shine best -- in their artistic element,”
Burwell said. “We hope to see as many people as possible stopping out to support both our students and our arts programs. I promise you will not be disappointed.”
The district-wide visual arts showcase will feature artwork from all buildings in the district.. It will be located in the main gym of Alliance High School and will remain open during each of the preceding events. Doors will open at 6 p.m. each night.
