Gasparik

ALLIANCE, OHIO – (April 21, 2021) – The Alliance City Schools Board of Education will begin the search to fill the vacancy on the board following the resignation of John “Buddy” Gasparik on April 16.

“Having been a former teacher and administrator, Mr. Gasparik was very knowledgeable about school operations and school law,” said William Koch, board president. “His contributions and input will be missed. The Board thanks him for his seven and a half years of service to the students, staff and administration of Alliance City Schools as a member of the Board of Education.”

\r\n

Gasparik served as a board member, vice president and president since being elected to the board in 2014. He has resigned his position due to personal reasons and other commitments. 

\r\n

“Mr. Gasparik has dedicated much of his professional life to the students and staff of Alliance City Schools,” said Rob Gress, superintendent. “He has positively touched the lives of countless people and will be remembered as someone who, throughout his educational career, was kind, compassionate and willing to do anything to help.”

\r\n

The Alliance Board of Education will be accepting applications beginning immediately. Applications can be printed at https://tinyurl.com/ythepn6z or picked up in the superintendent’s office at the ACS administration building, 200 Glamorgan St. Applications should be addressed to the Care of Bill Koch, Board of Education. Wednesday, April 28 will be the last day applications will be accepted.

According to Ohio law, individuals serving on an Ohio school board must be at least 18 years old, a resident of the district and a registered voter.

\r\n

Following the deadline for applications, the school board will begin the interview process with the selected candidates. The board plans to appoint the new member before May 15. The individual will remain on the board until the completion of the term on Dec. 31, 2021.

Alliance City Schools serves approximately 3000 students in five buildings in the city of Alliance.
