Preschool and kindergarten registration for Alliance Early Learning School (AELS) is just around the corner. Registration packets are available at all of the school buildings in the district including the administration building.

Registration will take place Mar. 18-22 at Glamorgan Castle, 200 Glamorgan St. Parents will be able to register their children for preschool and kindergarten from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. each day.

AELS was recently awarded All A’s on their state report card. This made them one of only 57 schools in in Ohio to be named an All A school.

"We're proud that the State Board of Education has recognized us as an All A School,” Calfee said. “They have found out what we already know, AELS is a great place to learn and grow."

The staff at AELS are certified teachers, even the preschool teachers. This is not a common occurrence in many preschools. The students begin at the age of three or four in a classroom setting and learn skills necessary to prepare them for kindergarten.

AELS is unique in the fact that it houses all the preschoolers and kindergartners is the Alliance City School District in one building. The young students can spend up to three years in the building- two years in preschool and one year in kindergarten.

“It’s important to start them young,” said Wendy Hubbard, the preschool coordinator at AELS.

She encourages parents to register their students for preschool as soon as they are old enough. The time they will spend in the classrooms learning and developing social skills is invaluable in helping to prepare them for the many years of school to come.

In order to register a child for preschool, they will have to be 3 years-old by Aug. 1. The following is required for registration:

  • Birth Certificate from the Health Department
  • Immunization Records
  • Parent or Guardian Photo Identification
  • Proof of Address
  • Custody Documents if applicable
  • Parent or Guardian Proof of Income

To register a child for kindergarten, the child must be 5 years-old by Aug. 1. The following is required for registration:

  • Birth Certificate from the Health Department
  • Immunization Records
  • Parent or Guardian Photo Identification
  • Proof of Address
  • Custody Documents if applicable

Spots are limited for preschool registration. Students previously registered in preschool at AELS do not have to be re-registered for the 2019-2020 academic year.
