Dear AELS Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! My name is Cory Muller and I am the new and proud principal of Alliance Early Learning School. This will be my fourth year in the Alliance City School District. My other 3 years were spent as the principal of Parkway Elementary. With the addition of all of our ACS 1st grade students, we also added an Assistant Principal, Holly Power. Mrs. Power started as a Kindergarten teacher here at AELS, and then last year changed roles to become the pre-school coordinator and building TRT. We are excited to have her here on our administrative team! Mrs. Power and I have been working hard all summer to make sure that your child’s school year is a successful one, albeit different!

Just like with all of our buildings here in Alliance City Schools, or main focus and priorities will be:

  • The health and safety of our students and staff members

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with students and families

  • Improving student achievement

  • Communicating with families on a regular basis

As we begin the 2020-2021 school year, please know that we will continue to strive for excellence, whether your child will start in-person or online!

We are looking forward to welcoming all of our Pre-K, and Kindergarten and 1st grade students last name A-L only on Thursday, August 27th. We will again welcome all of our Pre-K, as well as Kindergarten and 1st grade students last name M-Z only on Friday, August 28th. All students will report on Monday, August 31st.

As part of our healthy restart plan we are asking the following of our face to face learners:

  • Please take your child’s temperature before coming to school. Children with temperatures of 100 degrees fahrenheit or higher should stay at home.

  • Students are required to wear masks traveling to and from school on the bus and while inside of the school building (we will have many mask breaks throughout the day).

  • We will maintain 6ft. social distancing whenever possible.

  • Students are permitted to bring a water bottle as we will not be using the community water fountains. No larger than 16oz., please!

  • Please label your students school supplies. These supplies will stay in their individual school desks.

  • Please make sure you have completed all of your final forms so that we have up to date and accurate information for your child.

NEW DISMISSAL PROCEDURES AT AELS:

  • AELS will house an additional 200 1st grade students in our building, and with that, we need to prioritize student safety for dismissal. All students will be released out of only 2 doors. All bus riders will be released through our cafeteria doors, while all car riders and walkers will be released through door number 2, around our new inlet road that was added earlier this month, located on W. Oxford.

  • All cars will enter one of our two entrances on High Street and will wrap around to our parent pick-up spots on W. Oxford Ave.

  • Car Riders will need to have a yellow pick-up pass placed in the front right corner of their car. Our car rider attendant will call your child’s name when they see this car rider tag, and your child will be at a spot waiting for you when you arrive at W. Oxford. These very important yellow pick-up passes will be available at our in-person folder pick-up on Wednesday August 26th from 8:00am-7:00pm. This pick-up will take place off of Lincoln Ave near our cafeteria doors!

  • In-person folder pick-up with important information for a successful first day/week of school can be picked up on Wednesday, August 26th from 8:00am to 7:00pm. This can be picked up at the cafeteria doors off of Lincoln Ave.

  • If a car rider parent or guardian does not have the yellow pick-up pass, their ID will be verified to make sure it is the proper adult picking up. This is for the safety and protection of your child!

  • Walkers will also be released out of door # 2. Walkers are defined as students who are picked up and walk all of the way home. If a student walks across the street to get into a car, they will be considered as a car rider, and must be picked up using our car rider line!

Please look for the open house video link that will be posted on social media, our school website, and ParentSquare on the morning of Wednesday, August 26th. This will help show you our procedures and what our classrooms will look like going forward! Each teacher will also be posting a video introducing themselves and sharing a little bit about what your child’s day is going to be like! This too will be posted on August 26th!

If you should ever have any questions or concerns please call us at 330-829-2266. We appreciate you and your commitment to education!
