Welcome, on behalf of Alliance City Schools to the ACS Special Education website. I invite you to become acquainted with the programs and staff that proudly serve students with disabilities through a continuum of services beginning with preschool through graduation and beyond. ACS is committed to providing students with disabilities a free and appropriate public education in accordance with federal and state laws as defined under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA 2004) https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/osers/osep/osep-idea.html.
ACS is dedicated to serving the diverse needs of our students through a variety of programs and supports to be educated in their least restrictive environment for each student’s individual success. District services are delivered and supported with staff that include: school psychologists, intervention specialists, speech and language therapists, occupational and physical therapists, school nurses and/or health aides, counselors, mental health services, paraprofessionals, and other specialized services and programs.
The Office of Special Education looks forward to the 2017-2018 school year as we work together with students and families to reach each student's fullest potential to be prepared for life, college, and career. Please do not hesitate to contact my office with questions or concerns as we strive for all students to achieve beyond all expectations!
