Lego Invention Project On Dec. 1-2, students in Chris Shively’s history classes and Chris Schillig’s English classes participated in a Lego invention project. Students selected 19th-century inventors and inventions and recreated them using Legos. The project required students to research the inventions and inventors and to write down and photograph each step of the building. Students then wrote expository essays to show others in the class how to replicate their Lego creations. The project was a collaborative effort for students in the ninth-grade Pilots academy.

The students use the hashtag "#AHSdebates" with comments and questions about the candidates and issues being discussed. AHS Government teacher Joe Beichler has moderated the Twitter Chats, and has had help from several AHS staff members, all of whom respond to student questions and post comments to stimulate conversation. The turnout has been excellent, and we're very hopeful about student participation for the last debate on Wednesday night.
